This was where they would put the heads of the people sacrificed. The stones have heads carved into them. In Mayan culture it was an honor to be sacrificed and only the best were sacrificed.
This was the party place. It was flat on top so they could dance. This is definitely the place I would want to be.
These were the snake heads on the big pyramid. On the summer solstice the shadow makes it look like a snakes body is weaving up to the top.
This picture does not do this thing justice. It is huge! Inside of this pyramid are three more smaller replica's.

We visited the Myan ruins of Chichen Itza. It was beautiful! It was really awe inspiring to be standing next to a gigantic pyramid. They say that in 2012 all the planets are supposed to line up and be directly in line with the top of the pyramid.
